Its actually getting a k24. The k series in general is a great motor. Honda uses it for CRVs, accord's and of course civics. How often do you hear of those having issues?

edit!: i forgot that it will have different options. Still though, safe investment for sure.

 

The K24 seems to get all the attention, and im aware of how good of a motor it is.
But im a little weary of the 2.0L, it doesn't seem to be special in any way. plus, i dont hear much about it anywhere.
The ILX does come with a k24, but the base model only comes with the K20.

 

The 2.0 that comes in the ILX is a form of the R18. It's an R20A1 I believe. 150 crank HP. Nothing special. But the R18's are very reliable and good on gas.

 

It's not a K20, the k20 has been discontinued it'll be an R20.

 

if you havent heard of anything special on k20s then you obviously dont browse honda forums often =)

 

He was talking the new motor going into the ILX, which everyone said is gotta be a R20/K24 type of motor, not the K20 motors in general

What the deal on it? Decent engine, or just a plain jain 2L.

 

Pretty much just a plain 2L that you won't be able to coax any power out of, but will be economical and reliable.

 

Si owner that doesn't what a k20 is :facepalm:

Your asking about a brand new motor in a brand new car that no one really has any significant mileage or experience with. Its a Honda motor in a Honda car

The 2.0L ILX will be pig slow, I imagine compfy ride and slightly elevated refinement over an Si 4 door...

Lease the thing and turn it in -- long term I dont think its a car worth keeping and the prospects of having so little power will probably make the owner want something better in 3-4 years which is the avg length people hold cars.

I went to look at them - ugly - much rather keep my FA5 with Nav than downgrade to an ILX
