Hello lads,

Names Josh, I own a 2007 Honda Civic lx 1.8l coupe. Drove this beauty from Orlando Florida to LA and didn't have a problem. I just got out here, got a decent job, now as a college student I only think It's right to modify my car and be like the cool kids with beamers. (I don't think wasting a ton of money on a new car is the right choice financially.)

Haven't gotten much done with her but I've wanted to take you ricers on a journey with me and help me get started in this new chapter of my life. I have a budget but it's not a stupid low budget.

I've gotten new halo headlights, fixed a lot of **** that needed to get done (Carbon canister, tires, etc.), and now I want more comfortability when I drive on LA's terrible highways (I have a coupe, it's low to the ground and overall not the best but not the worst. But I want the car to look nice and stand out. I WANT US HONDAS TO LOOK COOL AGAIN.

I've attached some car porn, just installed the headlights and figured to take a pic.

Now listen, Florida's sun did my Honda dirty in the past. Sadly, she hasn't recovered. Most of you will disagree, But I'm not looking for a crazy paint job. I know Maaco has cheaper paint jobs than most places but I just need the most basic coating and dent removal for cheap. How is this option after seeing the damage?

Ah, I also forgot i have a brand new bumper if you couldnt tell. But what suggestions do you guys have? I have ideas (Painting the bumpers, side mirrors and hood black and leaving the rest of the car silver) of styling the car but how about suspension? What should I get? I'm getting new black rims shortly so that's already done.

Give me some feedback guys! I plan to be active with updating you guys with this project.

(Already have touch-screen radio. I'll upload another forum later about everything, I do need speaker recommendations)

P.S. This Ones an old photo with the old headlights in Florida, everything else is still the same.

Don't listen to the dude above man. Not everyone wants to buy an Si. And last time I remembered, any vehicle with 4 wheels and an engine is a "real car" Mind you that this is someone who's in college and wants a reliable commuter. Theres many cool little mods you can do to your car. You can do wheels. Window tint. Led lights. and more.

Welcome to the forum. This forum is very helpful when it comes to maintenance and repairs. I would focus on maintenance first and then mods but for a non-Si I would probably do suspension and wheel mods as the car isn't too fast. I recommend KYB shocks with lowering springs as that won't slam it to the ground. Having a very well maintained engine will make it peppy enough for daily use.

I'll be looking into it, thank you very much for the intro.

I'm also a college student which I understand the struggle. Just a reliable daily is what I want. Do you have the 5 speed?
Unfortunately not, Initially that's what I wanted. But for the deal, I had to take it. (Bought it at 117,000 miles for $2,000)
I see cars as liabilities and not assets so I don't see myself spending more than $7k on a car as of now. But there is potential to make this car look really nice for what it is. She needed a lot of care to run properly, before she was shaking like an anxious child but now she runs almost as quiet as a hybrid.

Mine is also an auto but I did get mine for free which was a huge blessing from my parents. I inicially wanted a car with a manual but I was told that I could have the Civic for free which I took. Lots of work was done to it all by DIY and it drives great. Just waiting for cash rn to get the shocks and wheels done later lol.

Huge blessing for sure. My mom helped with my first car (96 honda accord) but after that I was on my own. But once I moved out to the city I've been going to this affordable shop constantly to get everything perfect. The plan for me is to get new suspension, paint job, tint, & wheels. Coming in around $2k-$3k. Good luck with your build tho! I'm excited to get everything done.

I got the same headlights for my civic, very defined. I just had to aim the beams up a little. You could do a spoiler, seat covers, window rain guard, hood scoop, fog lights... the options are endless!
