ok im done and that kind of sucked. some tips:
i toke the steering wheel off
it made it easier to put the new controls in
the yellow clip for the airbag has a slide back connector
the tork screws are number 30
i stripped one of them putting it back like someone else who did this
to take the pins out of the old crusie control assembly, i used a sharp chisel and needle noose pliers-pretty easy
the hard part was putting it into the harness ontop of the steering wheel and back of radio
tip: take the cap of the steering wheel harness-pushing it in alone doesnt make a connection
it will for the radio part, and that doesnt have a cap you can remove
taking the dash apart: no need to remove glove box (used someone elses tip
i sodered my wire connection, better than barrel connections
removing the radio screws that are up and in inside the cubby sucked
use a socket to loosen and a drill bit screw driver attachment to finish it by hand
put car in low gear BEFORE removing airbag to give yourself more room
when you remove the wheel, MARK its position-i did half butt and drove off with a crooked wheel-i think i will now always think im out of alignment
use a rag and cover up the steering wheel-the heavy airbag will scratch it
bring lots of beer and patience. im somewhat mechanically inclined, and got held up most by the steering wheel reattachement, cubby screws, and the darn wire harness pins. using the directions on page 6 for the wiring was the best
also, dont get freaked out if the airbag light comes on when you just plug in the radio. attach all harnesses and it goes off. have you radio code handy.
so, all in all, my out of shape butt is sore, im sweaty, and it didnt help that i started to rain. one last tip-be careful not to drop the wheel tork screw that tightens the airbag in the wheel. its a real pup to get out. finishing up the last annoying screws in the morning. just remember all the dash stuff scratches easily. i think if i was to do it again i could knock it out in a hour and half. good luck kids, rob.
