Anyone interested in going to ILR Car Control School? From what I've heard and read, it is basically a track oriented driving school (not really a "racing" school") to teach you the proper basics to handle your car properly.

I am interested in getting my car onto the track and I think this is a perfect way to start it off. Everyone knows how to drive...but does everyone know how to drive "properly"? Well, I'll be the first to admit that I don't.

If we get a group together, maybe we can get together and get a group rate.

Let me know what you guys think.

6 - Ksterr - track only

if it's not the performance driving school, it doesn't seem (for me) to be of much use as the course for advanced driving will probably only focus on defensive driving techniques and accident avoidance via car control...neither of which are all that useful for track driving unless there is a spin out ahead of you that you need to avoid.

The $300 course sounds interesting, where is this place exactly?

You guys should look into BMW club schools. HPDE's are open to everyone, not just BMW's. You get an instructor to ride shotgun every session and in class sessions to get the theory down too.

The ILR does look good though.

The local BMW club is having a 2 day school in June or July at Calabogie. I can't register for it but if anyone's interested, I can forward a link.

I think cost is a big factor for everyone...so we'll wait and see what kind of discount we will be eligible for.

I think that it will be best if this group is open to everyone. I don't think there will be enough interests if we just do civics only. Besides, how else can we show that the civics are far superior if we have nothing to compete against? I kid...I kid...

Ian replied to my email.

He suggested that we take the Advanced Autoslalom as it is an excellent introduction to performance driving. Depending on the number of members who wish to take the course, we can either join another group or set up our very own exclusive group.

If we have between 6-10 people, it may be best to join another group.
If we have between 11-20 people, we can have our own exclusive group.

The number of members will determine how much of a discount we can get.

They also offer a package deal for both the Advanced Autoslalom and Track School. The Track School is the next logical step after the Adv. Autoslalom.
