First of all replace r18 with r20 it will be bolt on swap bolt to bolt you will feel a massive gain in power. For more power add a tsi extreme turbo kit in it i myself using r20 turbo and its givin me 290whp @9psi 100% stock motor only i upgrade clutch and exaust system

Ummm Mfactory makes a HLSD and gears and final drive for our tranny. Go with them for sure. My R18
Is fully built as well. Built long block turbo all suspension work custom BBK all I need is axles (ordered) and built tranny coming this month 👍😉

I just picked up a full stock 8th gen coupe 5spd and want to know where the best place to start to add some more power.

You can’t flashpro or use any Hondata on a R18. People may claim it but it’s just a claim . Any video Proof ? Times? You just can’t do it . R18 is mapped and built for a great MPH . Honestly get a pedal commander . It’s legit . It’s just a jump of your throttle mapping and your mileage will drop tremendously but you asked for speed or power . This gives the illusion of both and you do it yourself.

lol this is the R18 section not the Si. So don't suggest he change cars thats stupid and would cost more money. I have a pretty heavily built r18 yes its boosted yes it has a Skunk 2 cam yes it has meth yes full suspension and Custom big brake kit and tons more. Just go look at my profile to many mods to list. So I know a lot I'm one of the OG on this forum when folks just finally got a boost option and hondata, You need to first figure out how much you are willing to spend. That always determines what you can do and where to go. Also how far are you going with this build. Spend some serious time with that and get back with us.

I've always wanted to throw NST Pullys on my R18 to free up low end torque for daily driving but my concern is the oversized pully slowing my water pump down therefore making the engine run a bit hotter than usual.

That’s a subjective ? Honestly, yes and no. What I said above is true how far are you going with this?? What’s your budget are you ready to also replace wearable items as well. Example LCA slave cylinder brakes suspension thermostat to name a few. You just don’t slap a turbo or supercharger on and go. There is a lot that has to come along with it to make it effective

As well to get parts in and installation etc. have another car to drive as well. Now when you boost a car other parts will wear down as the car was not intended to be boosted and your handling will be bad as well. Takes to long to shift into gears sooooo Aka mod bug

Why original oem bearings are shot and I hate squeaks and rattles. Also time to get alignment perfect.

So look at the numbers above just to get started if you’re cool with that then welcome to actually modding a car but some of these parts will get discontinued as you’re seeing due to age and EPA. Boost options are drying up Fast for the 8th gen.

Oh and yes I have a back up full Kraftwerks supercharger kit. I’m manual transmission so Turbo all the way I’m going to build my friends auto 8th and use the kit on that should be some fun comparisons

One more thing have a place to get Hot state inspections as well cause after you boost you not passing an inspection since things will need to be tuned out. Most never think of that first.

So ask me anything I’m Truly fully built R18 civic. I’m not talking theory or maybes I have done it. Now I’ll doing it again with auto version all will be the same path just supercharged this time and if you have Choices Always go built motor so you are not limited you can buy entire low mileage r18a long locks for 800 then just upgrade internals and turn up the boost for real power

I have Ralco pully kit on my boost r18 it’s fine get those. If you’re concerned about overheating which it will not but you can add a Megan racing radiator to help with cooling. Yes I have that radiator as well no overheating issues. Now when my thermostat went out lol I had them then but again wearable item replaced and perfect

I just got my car a couple of months and so far what ive been thinking for the build is show car so just cosmetics like tints,spoiler, wheels, exhaust, maybe headlights . But later down the road I wanna gain some power or make that SOHC Vtec hit harder. Ive read that for somewhat quick gains that still keep the car reliable are headers, intake, exhaust. Id love to turbo the car for the sleeper build but it's way out my price range so what are good ways to gain power while being N/A and not wanting to break bank?

Hmmmm sir that does not exist. Phantasy world there if you want to make real power then it cost money. That’s the way the mod game works. I would say be real with your expectations. A fully bolt

Really need to boost it whether supercharger or turbocharged. No point in some of the mods you listed if you just save up for boost and start there first.

You can do what I did and buy interior peace then exterior then engine etc. or just go and do motor first that the most expensive of course. My car has literally every mod just ask away

Fair enough I appreciate the honesty. Ive thought about doing little things to make it nice like mainly cosmetic cut anything engine related is expensive. What mods made a difference for you apart from the obvious like supercharger/turbocharger? Ive been thinking Hondata I just wanna have some fun with the car I've heard with Hondata you can tune and use different basemaps and can increase performance (im not too sure how much or if they di) Also my best upgrade will most likely be an exhaust im debating about a muffler delete or a yonaka cat back which is better for something not too loud but that sounds nice and has a deep tone. Sugggestions?

Just want to do exterior mods to make it look different then ok. But adding a loud exhaust to a stock car is what gives honda owners the whole ricer stigma.

Avoid doing that please either mod for real or just do exterior mods. You can build this car over time
It’s not all done in one night. Just keep adding parts but know even my car was not over night build try 4 years trial and error with parts 3 motors etc. as far as exhaust it your preference. If you’re looking for performance only then full race 3” is your answer and I think skunk2 mega power is 3” as well. I don’t want a overly loud obnoxious car but that’s me

As far as free power is concerned I tell every person the same thing about the R18 platform. If you have any power goals in mind the car needs to be boosted whether that’s turbo or supercharged. The r18a does not wake up unless it’s boosted. If you’re not doing that then dont waste your money just make it look better. You can add a standalone to tune your car or get a usdm ecu harness etc inorder to use Hondata I would just get standalone
