The R18 has integral exhaust in the head. Limits what performance mods will produce. That being said a good turbo ( not eBay crap) will likely yield the best performance. The cost of a good turbo I’d be hard pressed to put that against a R18. A K20 would be a better start but lots of necessary changes.
