I'm trying to take a pic of my headlights at night but they look washed out. It doesn't look like a beam. Let me know of any tips/tricks..I have a DSLR.

Focus, set the camera on manual for a low shutter speed or depending on what you're trying to take a picture of, high shutter speed for non-blur, then long enough exposure. It's definitely hard haha

If you want just the color of the lights to show and still have the rest of the car well lit.. you're gonna have to combine two exposures into one photo using Photoshop.

One exposure that is short with a fast shutter speed to capture the lights so they don't look washed out.

Second exposure with a longer shutter speed to capture the rest of the car in detail and well lit.

Combine the two into photoshop, put the two images on top of each other and use the black/white layer mask to show parts of the picture you want and don't want. Kinda hard to explain without actually trying to show you.. lol

Hope that helps. Good luck! It's not easy.
