Many users have approached me in the past requesting a copy of the Honda Service News Bulletin that told technicians to swap the manual transmission fluid for their manual transmission vehicles.

I figured that it is high time I made an archive of all the Honda Service News Bulletins that I could get my hands on, as they have proven to be indispensable when used as leverage for dealerships. I, among many others, have had the dealership tell me that there is no, for example, bulletin advising them to replace the manual transmission fluid. Once I produced a copy of the bulletin, they caved.

So here it is. A copy of all of the Official Honda Service News Bulletins that I could get my hands on. Keep in mind that we, as non-Honda technicians, are most likely not allowed to have access to these. I do not work for Honda, nor do I know anyone personally who does. I did some digging on my own and found these.

Of particular interest is January 2006 and January 2007. January 2006 deals with 6-speed manual transmission models getting premature syncro wear due to skip shifting (don't do it!) and January 2007 is the famed "Notchy Transmission? Swap to the new Honda MTF".

I hope these help those of you with problems, whether it is your Civic or another Honda vehicle! I will update these as soon as I dig up the new copies.

Nice! Are you going to keep this updated with all the most recent TSB's?
I would, but I believe there is another thread stickied somewhere that deals with recalls, TSBs, and other concerns.

I mainly put this thread together for those who own other Honda vehicles who may want to see what kind of things Honda has going on with their vehicles.

The Honda Service News Bulletins address things not severe enough to be TSB or recall warranted, but are nonetheless very important to have done if your car is affected.

For example, January 2007 was the Service Bulletin that informed technicians to swap out the old manual transmission fluid for the new, reformulated stuff when they had a customer complaining of notchy gears.

As consumers, we're not likely supposed to have these bulletins, but I know that myself and others have had our MTF changed under warranty thanks in no small part to the uploaded Service News Bulletin. For me, browsing through these publications lets me see what kind of things Honda is doing to their vehicles and allows me to get things done that I might not otherwise be able to.

With the third gear issue, I've been complaining about it for almost a year and a half now, and the only time (outside of the first time I had it replaced thanks to the bulletin), my dealership even KNEW about that was when I handed it to them. My experience with Honda has shown me that if you want anything done to your car in terms of warranty work (and it's a global problem), YOU need to be the one that does the research and the digging. This site has proven invaluable in aiding so many of us in rallying together for problems, and I hope this just adds to it.

Thanks ringpop. I see your always working hard for us Si owners.

+ if it was possible
I do what I can. I get bored and I think of new and inventive things I can do for the community. I know some people like to think that all I do is ***** and moan, but if they'd stop and smell the coffee (read: looked at my posts), they'd see there's a looooot more done in addition to a hearty amount of bitching and moaning!

Totally absolutely fantasmically awesome! Thanks a bunch, Mike!
No problem, anything I can do help out owners. The nice thing about this is it covers all Honda models, not just Civics!

For what it is worth, I updated these off of a Honda tech's server or something. I worried that if it got too many hits, they may take them down, so I downloaded and updated them all to my own private one.

Hopefully this will help people out.

I updated the archive with the February 2008 copy of the Service Bulletins.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to improve this? Would it be more beneficial for me to post asterisks next to the bulletins that apply to the Civics or CAN apply to the Civics? I know there are a LOT of them.

Thanks for the sticky. I was hoping someone would sticky it. I think this is important not only for Civic owners, but all Honda owners to have access to.

It has proven utterly invaluable for me on several times.

No problem, bud, I check every few weeks to see if Honda updated any of the TSBs and keep this up to date. Usually, by a month after, the previous month's bulletin is up. So in April (early probably), the March 2008 bulletin will be out.

I will continue to update it. I'm glad you guys find it useful. Is there anything you'd like me to see update?

If you have a source for 8th gen Civic TSBs, having all of those in place would be swell. So many TSBs apply across the trim levels that posting only those applicable to the Si might actually be more difficult than having them all together. If doing this would run afoul of copyright issues (alldata does charge for this access, after all), then leave it be.

I have no problem paying for a factory service manual, but since this information is publicly available, it ticks me off that it isn't easily accessible straight from Honda. On the same topic, every Honda has the ability to display DTCs right on the dash, but they don't. I doubt doing it would make much difference in repair profits, but giving free access to TSBs and displaying DTCs would continue to enhance Honda's reputation.

If the website or myself gets contacted about it, I'll take them down, but I don't foresee that happening. This should be public knowledge.

I'll sift through all of them and find all Bulletins referencing the 8th generation Civics, R18 and K20 both. In retrospect I realize that this is a ton of crap to download just to find several that deal with the Civic.

I'll update it a bit later. Thanks for the suggestions.
