2006 Civic, no modifications, 74,000 miles 120,000km

i think i can hear a faint hisssssssssssss from the engine on the passenger side, at the back somewhere. can not pinpoint.

i also noticed the power steering fluid reservoir is bubbling while the car is running. the steering feels normal. i changed the fluid , flush and fill 2 years ago.

what do you think is going on?

the bubbling / swirling stopped after I topped up the power steering fluid. It was at the low mark, and I topped it up to the max mark.

The hissing noise sounds normal when i listened to a few 06 civic engine noise videos on u tube.

Yes, the bubbles in the power steering reservoir are usually caused by too low of a brake fluid level. If the level falls very close above the return port, the air gets a chance to mix in and travels through out the system making noise.
