The Si hasn't had an easy life over the last 5 months - similar to past rides. But its been all very good imo and well maintained. It currently has about 8000 miles on the odo.

Today I'm merging on a highway - 2nd as the corner straightens out - then goose the gas a little then 3rd then merge then 4th, etc. Looking down every once in a while I see I'm shifting at 5000 rpm. Not that the engine's topping out - its just that it feels like its shift time.

Used to be at one time I sneeze on the accelerator and its vtec then fuel cutoff time shortly after.

For folks running bone stock, do you find VTEC isn't needed as much as the car gets broken in.

The car definitely has enough power in the 5k area to merge into freeway traffic. But nothing beats that feeling of hitting VTAKKKK!

Just pop 2 viagra pills into your vtec fluid reservoir. That will have you vtaking in no time. :dance:

But if you are still experiencing vtak after 4 hours below 5800 RPM, bring your car into your local mechanic as soon as possible. :badger:

well, i don't know about you folks here, but most people buy the SI for the sport, and the engine. If you don't vtec, or feel the need for it, then why the hell did you buy an SI. Could of saved yourself some money.

Living in the city makes it almost useless to have the VTEC. I seldom if ever get to really use it. If i do it's a quick 2nd gear to redline then brake. Back when I lived in GA there were plenty of roads to utilize it. After about 3500 the car has pretty good pickup. I often have it between 4k and 5k when sifting thru cars on the freeway. Otherwise cruising between 3 and 4k. It makes it feel all the more powerful when I actually get a long stretch to wind it up...

I don't use vtec in the extreme. I just moved to the city. So if I vtec, Its between 2nd and 3rd gear to get a quick merge into traffic. But when I start working soon, I'll be travelling about 45 min on the highway to and from, likely be using it if I have to. I always seem to attract idiots that probe me into a quick gun down the highway.
