is there anyways i can pump some more bass out of my civic without putting a new sub in the trunk? i have the si with the sub in back but it doesnt bump as much as id like it to. so is there anyway i can get to bump without to much technical and wiring issues?

check out the Maxxbass processor, do a google search on it, ive heard the theories behind it, and it makes sense, could work wonders. dunno the price tho

edit: oh, there would be some wiring behind it. as for the difficulty of the wiring, i dont know, but without a sub, i think this is your only way...

He has a sub, since he owns an Si.


to the OP i think the only way is to get better subs and a new amp.

i meant aftermarket subwoofers, considering the stock subwoofer is barely noticable, and obviously inadequate for his needs

If you want a touch more, there's some Pioneer and Kicker 8's that'll fit but you might want to find a real small (100w or so) to give it a touch more umph. That small of an amp can be hidden under a seat if you're wanting to go clean. Look at the Xtant 1.1. It's 100w mono and has the tiniest platform you'll find. Can be found for $75 on average online used.

Personally I don't see a free air 8" sub replacing the factory rear-deck woofer making that much of an improvement. I know others have gone this route but I've seen mixed reviews.

Personally, I'd suck it up and put a single 10" or 12" woofer in a small, sealed enclosure in the trunk. Feed it ~250watts or so and you'll have a good amount of bass and not alot of trunk room. There are MANY MANY subs that perform well in a small sealed enclosure, the Alpine Type R series being my favorite for a budget friendly install.

I had the same issue. I just built a ported box and used a 10" high sensitivity sub. Wired it to 2 Ohms and just used a speaker harness to use the stock power.

It's not the best way to gain bass but I didn't have to do any wiring as far as power, line inputs, ground, and all that. Pretty clean install and helps with the bass a lot.
