Is the car jacked up in this photo? All of my coilovers have looked similar to this, but the boot usually covers just about everything when the weight of the car is actually on the suspension.
A local shop did the work…. not I. They were suppose to order new boots and mounts, but didn’t. They instead reused the original boots and now the strut pistons are exposed. I’m concerned that dirt and grime will blow the seals to the struts. I spent over $600 for the all new shocks all the way around and another $1100 on labor only to have questionable work done on the car.You won't destroy the strut by disasembling. Just make sure to add a drop of blue locktite on the nut that holds the top hat and the shock together. I found that a geniune Honda dust boot is best for our cars.
I'm considering it, although I did talk with several different people that say the exposed pistons will be fine and the Tein struts are suppose to reuse the OE boots. I'll watch it and if it seems to be building up dirt on the piston, I'll have it addressed.I would take it back and demand the boot to be replaced. You asked for it to be replaced and they didn't do it.
How do the Teins compare over stock?I'm considering it, although I did talk with several different people that say the exposed pistons will be fine and the Tein struts are suppose to reuse the OE boots. I'll watch it and if it seems to be building up dirt on the piston, I'll have it addressed.
Considering that I was driving on a blown shock for a long time, my car doesn't bottom out anymore in places where I'd have to slow down. At 50% stiffness, it's definitely feels tighter... the damper rebound feels a lot different than what I'm used to feeling. I'm curious about them at 100% stiffness. This is the first time in my 30 years of driving experience using performance shocks. How do the Teins compare over stock?
We were talking about it at length this past weekend and he seems to thinking that it would be fine the way it is.I think you should listen to your son
Overall, I’d say yes, although the car feels like it floats a bit, but I’m not certain if that’s because I need to get an alignment. I had the ball joints replaced during the strut and shock replacement. Is the ride better over stock?
