A while a go I had to change my oil pan due to a crack (ex coupe under warranty). They had to remove the exhaust pipe to change the oil pan and it took them 10 days to get the oil pan in stock. Meanwhile while they were waiting for the oil pan, the exhaust pipe was just hanging for about 10 days.
A few days ago when i was doing an oil change, I noticed a nasty looking weld job on the exhaust pipe which I do not recall seeing before. The weld is located on the back end of the pipe about a couple of feet away from the muffler.
Is this weld job done on the assembly or is it something the dealership did while they were doing the oil pan job?

There are wieldings all over the exhaust pipe, maybe you are talking about the resonator? If you don't know what that is, it is probably it. Then it'd be normal. If not, any part where the diameter of the pipe changes or bents, there'd be possible wieldings. Anything I consider not normal wielding would be spots where they try to fix a hole or something.
