When pressed more than 50% gas at low rpm, it sounds like there's marble rolling around in the engine.

What do you think it is? engine knock?

08 civic si btw.

thanks

Shouldn't be a problem..

what do you guys think?

Or maybe it's "ping" ?? I don't quite know what the difference between knock and ping. Can anyone explain ? thanks

I use the v power form Shell. Which is 91 octane here in California.
That's the highest they've got in here.

Well ping is acually an computer term to test your network settings. Marble sound would be an engine knock. How many miles? Just take it to the dealer if under warranty.

Not likely, at least I never heard of it. Of couse unless you lose one of your pistons. I would call up the local honda service center and set an appointment. Don't take any advice from here.

Actually, I'm really not sure if it's a knock or not.
I watched some video on youtube on engine knock, those actually sounds like something is knocking on the door or something..

Mine is more like.. marble in tin can, or someone left the tap on so water kept floating out. The sounds is pretty subtle.

I just want to confirm what it is before I talk to the dealer, so I can convince them more efficiently.

i have a similar sound in my car when i'm idling and you can hear it slightly while revving. its coming from the right side tho and it's not consistent. i hear it and then it might go away for a second, maybe more and then i'll hear it again. took it to the dealer and the guy looked at it real quick and says it sounds like my belt tensioner is loose or one of my pulleys is bad. i haven't had time to make an appointment to get it fixed tho

it's more like sounds when the engine is under load.
Do you guys get that sound when you floor the gas?

I'm going to switch to Chevron and see if it helps.

Are you hitting vtec? The valvetrain noise can get quite loud during it. It most definitely sounds like marbles bouncing around btw.

I was at around 2000 to 3000 rpm.
not VTEC-ing..

Does the marble sound really indicates knocking?
or could it be something else?

at VTEC, sometimes I hear some click too, but it's seldom.
Chevron gas did not help by the way
