OK, 2007 Civic EX sedan. I purchased this car used on June 30th, 2014. First fill up was 29 mpg. I just filled up for the second time and calculated 32 mpg.

Keep in mind that 80% of the driving has been conducted by my 16 yr. old permit holding daughter. All of the starts have been jack rabbit style and the stops have been seat belt tensioner testing style. Back roads and close to home, max speed 58 mph. The interstate terrifies me for the time being.

I'm happy with the mpg from this car.

Got my ultra gauge few days ago, car is getting a average of 28 to 31 mpg 2006 ex 5 speed around town. The real test will be Saturday my 600 mile drive!

Took my 2011 on the 600 mile trip got 37.5 mpg on the high way going 80 not bad haha
The 8th Gen is surprisingly fuel efficient even at higher speeds. In 400-500 mile road trips, I get close to 40 MPG even with the car fully loaded and typical cruise speed of 65-70, with some bursts of 80 MPH for passing.

I generally avoid cruising above 70 MPH, because the 5-spd manual has short gearing. At 80 MPH the engine is making a racket and it can get tiring after awhile. The fuel pump also seems to get noisier at high cruising speeds.

Agree, my 2011 lx auto don't mind 80. I could have tried to do better but my goal was to just to vacation. My 06 ex 5spd is much better on gas around town 28 to 32mpg but it's a little slower then my 11lx. It might also have to do with one having more mileage then the other. Both are great cars with little quarks.

The only way is to try to aim for 50 or more miles before your first bar goes away, and try to get to 300+ by your last quarter of the tank
