While honda is changing bumpers and wheels, everyone else is making more power....
Performance wise the 09 is exactly the same as the 06....
but at 197 ponies the Civic Si is next-to-last on the group's power list. Zero to 60 mph performance -- 6.6 seconds -- is also seventh out of eight. It's this lone weakness -- the simple lack of grunt -- that keeps the Si from finishing any higher than fifth.
Just my opinion, but I'm happier with my Si than I would be with a VW GTI. From what I've seen in the past, VWs last maybe a year before stuff starts to break and/or fall off. No thanks on that.
Ok just drop a turbo in it and don't crank the hell out of the psi and we shoot back into first. Vtech'n the whole way!!!!! I can't wait to put my turbo in. FI!
Its funny that out of all the 8 cars that were tested, only 1 was N/A. Gee I wonder what car that was. LOL. They should put in a turbocharger in our car then redo the test and see what happens.
Back then there were about three sport compact cars in the same target market, the Chevy Cobalt SS (supercharged), GTI, and SI. The SI was the more driver orientated car of the trio while the GTI was the more refined cruiser (no one cared about the Cobalt SS back then and for good reason). These days however, the SI is still raw in is own right, but the competition exceeds its once hailed performance figures. So while the GTI is still a great cruiser, the SI is no longer the best drivers car. So 5th makes sense to me. It is good to note however, that the SI is still one of the cheapest among those it contends with.
