Sorry if this isn’t the right area to post but I am too grief stricken with the repair cost of 4.5k. I would like to start a thread to so we can document how many other people's engine blocks are cracking after the 10 year warranty expiration. I just had mine crack (after 102k) last week and brought it in. I am 2 months out of the warranty coverage.
I did a bit of research and saw that the engine normally fails at around 90k-110k miles.
Since there are people out there who dont drive more than 8k miles a year it would take about 11.25 years on average for their engine to fail.
I want to know from other owners do they think it is possible to get a class action put together to cover this issue indefinitely because 100k and buy a new engine is a bit ridiculous.
Again sorry if it isnt the right area maybe a moderator can help me. Again this is a 2.5k-4.5k issue. I feel that it should be addressed by the community.

What i've heard is that no matter what "fix" you do to it, it just won't work. Whatever fix it gets might hold on for a while as temporary, but the real fix is to swap the whole engine or junk the vehicle. It's unfortunate but for some people, JB weld has worked for them. Write a complaint to NHTSA. Was your car maintained well prior to it cracking? just wondering since my 06 Civic EX has 164k and risks this manufacture defect BUT my car is over maintained.12/22 - my 2007 civic experienced this issue with about 136k miles.![]()

I bought a '00 maxima with 249k, I put 60,000 miles on it in one year. I paid $400 for that car. Heated leather, sunroof, powerful engine. Called the junkers the other day, they told me they'll come pick it up for $375.It's my daily driver
I bought a used 08 civic in May of 2020, it had 100000 on it and now its close to 111000 and my block cracked jst a few days ago but since I've had the car it has never overheated yet my block still cracked. So I am seeing posts from 8 months ago, this thread may have croaked...but I have never gotten over my horrifc Honda experience. Across the board with many calls and calls and coporate, if was awful and I still paid near 4k. I have wanted to sue or get funds back for long time. I had 2008 LX civic I bought it brand new as the 09s were just coming out. I did not receive a recall notice. The closet dealership to my home in Atlanta that is inside the perimeter (atl talk) would take me 1 hour there bc traffic and 1 hr to 1.5 hr way back home. My car in 2018 broke down at <or = 90k miles( was not at 100), I had been adding coolant and the block still broke. They told me had I been services my vehicle with them they would have informed me. I was within 3 weeks of warranty ending and had always gotten oil changes on time which I could show proff of, and they were 5 mins from my house. I had been to Honda for at least 4 occassions for new key, airbag which they DID send out, and something else here and there. They told me at these prior times that you have to inquire about what is wrong with Honda before they disclose any warranty for recall. Long story short...I was f*ed with the engine, the paint peeling, both my visors melted/fell off, and some other more minor pain in my a things. They paid zilch....Now car is totalled and the liable insurance is saying my new 2018 engine only 3 yrs 3 months old with 125k on car and 35k on engine does absolutely nothing for the value...i ak sure they are going to have a change of heart come auction time...I am not done with insurance and i would love my money back. I told Hinda cooperate I would never buy Honda again and I never will, not even looking at them as potential new car bc im so disgusted with them..anyway hope this helps anyone...if still out there and care.....peace
