My 08 Sedan LX has never let me do the personalized welcome message. I have followed the owner manual instruction and also followed the instructions from an 8th Civic thread. No luck.
When I hold in the power and tune knob all it does is turn the power on. So is this feature only on select stereos?
Sorry I searched but maybe I typed it in wrong because I found nothing referring to what trim levels/stereos have this feature.

The earlier SEDANS can't do the welcome message. Not sure about the '09+.

i have an 07 dx and it lets me change the message. changed it to "no fat chicks" the day i bought it and it has not been changed since lol

I think only coupes. works on my 06 LX coupe and my friends 06 LX coupe, does not work on my cousins 08 Sedan though.

my old 07 coupe lx let me change the message. the coupe also has front tweeters so it could be different.
