I have an Ex sedan, and yes they do light up...

 

ok, I checked the fuses and they are ok. Anyone have any other ideas?

yea, if your just press the (-) button to dim your display a notch and see if they come one. the highest brightness setting does not light up the buttons.

 

I have an '06 and I noticed that part of the display was flickering a bit. has anyone else seen this? I looked on the fourms and I wonder if it has to do with tempature. It is 101 outside today and this is the first time I have seen it. It has been parked outside at work all day.

 

I have an '08 Civic EX Coupe and I've been losing the dash lights for the radio over the past few years. Now, the display is the only thing I can see, thankfully. But I can't tell which buttons are which unless I turn on one of the overhead map lights. Sucks. I haven't seen a post yet where anybody has an answer. It may be that we'd have to replace the whole head unit with a reman unit, if Honda even does that. I used to work for Volvo as a parts manager and we used to be able to get reman radios for exchanging one out. There could be any number of issues involved. At lease with my Civic, the radio still works, I just control it from the steering wheel. Send me a message if anyone hears something on fixing the problem. I went thru the fuse boxes, even puttting in new fuses and switching fuses of same amperage. I think I'm ******. I asked a Honda Service Writer if this was a problem they had heard of. He said I'd have the bring it in for the tech to take a look at it. Oh, and that'll be $89 Diagnostic Fee. No thanks. Too bad the radio is so much a part of that entire section of the dash panel. That's the manufacturer really pretecting their product.

 

There has been a few members on the facebook group that have replaced their lights to different colours. You can disassemble the whole radio to get to the lights

 

The lights can be replaced, it's a little tedious. It's on the first page of this huge thread (I've done some of this, not the radio though), but you (may) have to go through pages and pages of it if you need additional info. Requires soldering.
