so in the past week i have installed 2 of them and realized there is a slight problem w/ the way that the DIY i read threw left out so here it is. also it should help anyone that has installed the ss and doesn't have a smooth shift into 2,4, 6, and R. it is a pretty easy straight forward install took me about 25m to do with a dremal tool, will take a little bit longer with a file. i didn't take pictures cuz i was working under the interior lights but it is really easy to describe.

1. pull off the shift knob by putting a wrench and loosening the nut and then twisting it off.

2. pull up the silver trim around the shifter it has clips at the corners, so just snap them off carefully so u don't break them and put that to the side.

3. take off the tray it has a few clips around the edges and just pulls right out.

4. put the trans in 3rd gear 2 give your self a little bit of working room and then carefully pull the retaining clip to the sides with one hand and grab the back of it w/ your other hand so that you don't drop it! open it up and slide it up and off. put the clip to the side were you won't loss it.

5. take a crescent wrench adjust the size to so u can slide the ball on the short shifter threw it and then put it on the shifter and use it 2 pop off the blue cap. keep it in your hand as you pry it off and u won't have 2 worry about dropping it.

6. then get a pair of channel locks and open them up 2 the size of the short shifter and use them 2 press the blue cap on the new shifter it is much easier than putting it on the ground and banging it on like a monkey.

7. now this is the part i haven't seen any one else do. (after installing the first one we noticed that the short shifter causes the cables to rub against the base of the shifter making it harder to throw it in 2,4,6, and R) so to remedy this all you need to do is get a dremel tool or file or hell even a butter knife could probably get the job done and just grind away some of the plastic that is on the base to give your self a good smooth shift. this may require a few times to get rite but there isn't much that u need to take off just a bit off the bottom edge will do it.( if unsure skip this step and come back to it after installing it so you can see were it hits)

8. now your ready to install the SS. get your Allen key and make sure the set screws aren't sticking out at all on the inside. the easiest way to put the ss on the shifter is to push the shifter as far forward as you can then put the ss down in the hole. then move the shifter back towards 4th and slide the ss on as you are moving the shifter back. once you have it all the way on (u shouldn't see any of the shifters tapered spot) tighten the set screws.

9. now before you put the cable back onto the blue cap put the clip back on. then all you need to do is put the part of the cable that goes onto the blue cap and push it on it'll snap right on. remember once again keep one hand on the back of it and use your other hand 2 open up the front so u don't drop it.

10. now take it threw the gears and watch to make sure it doesn't hit the shift base. if it doesn't you are good 2 go put the interior pieces back on and enjoy the new toy. if it dose rub then look for were it rubs and take the ss back off and repeat step 7 threw 10.

sorry about the lack of pictures but i hope i explain it detailed enough.

oh... and i know i can't spell so lets not turn this into a you can't spell thread. i'm just trying 2 help the community.

u can see were i shaved away some of the plastic

and here u can see how close it is to the base. befor i shaved awa some of the material it would rub against it.

I got my corsport SS last week and I have no problems. I didn't need to shave anything. But the first day I got it I had to put more effort to put in 6th and reverse, but now it's smooth.

I would recommend getting this if anyone is thinking about it, also get the combo w/ the cable bushings.

installation is straight forward just look it on the DIY section.

yea the reason why u had 2 put more effort into putting it in gear is cuz it rubs there isn't much material that u need 2 shave off but its going 2 get rubed off sooner or later so u might as well do it 2 the base so the shift cable dosn't have a chance 2 get ****** up.

I know what you mean. But it's alright I guess it's already shaved since it's already smooth. Good job on the DIY though. It's a good thing to know for future reference for others.
