Why do most comments about chrome rims say they are "rice". Most all factory upgrades for rims are chrome for both import (Nissan, Mazda, and others) and domestic cars. I don't understand why a clean design chrome rim would make your car "rice". I am considering having my 17" HFP rims chromed. Without any crude remarks or jokes please explain. Thanks !!!

rice is the mentality of a persons mind
I agree with this because it depends on what one considers rice. Are u talking about fried rice, mexican rice or a different kind of rice? LOL j/k  I think chrome looks good on certain types of cars. IMO chrome does not look good on race cars and it will also slow u down. It depends on wut kinda look u want for ur car. If u want a race look chrome is not the way to go, but if u want a luxurious look then chrome will work for u.

My thinking is that chrom is rice because it's heavy... true chrome adds a lot of weight to a rim, which is why companies like volk don't offer actual chrome, they offer a chome-like paint finish... best of both worlds, and to me, a great look. Another alternative would be polished Aluminum.

It's fine for some luxo rim makers to offer it, because quite frankly, the kinds of cars they're putting the rims on have horsepower and torque in abundance.

Has anybody done a rice/bling comparison? I don't see much of a difference in the two. Both offer completely useless upgrades to a car, most of the time tacky, with little or no consideration given to the appropriateness of the add-on with respect to the vehicle to which it's being affixed. I guess bling would be a step up from rice because it CAN be good, but I think the bling stereo type is going way down hill.

Rice is one of the most overused terms I see Import owners using. I think Tacky will suffice since they've abused the term to the fact that it barely has any solid meaning.

Chrome, like all accessories, is okay in moderation. Too much is actually just "wanna be baller"

chrome on sporty cars is rice. havent we outgrown chrome yet?

eevn honda understands that chrome should not go on the coupes because they are viewed as sporty.

He had pictures of his civic and he flipped the picture so it looked like he drives a RHD when really its a LHD. :police:

I just looks ugly in my point of view. "Bling Bling"

I will try to find some pics.
