Owned Civic EX 1.8 2008 a month before yet a few days ago, the engine check light came on. As per the mechanic diagnosis, the catalytic converter needs to be clean. But one of my friend who owns civic for years is suggesting me to replace the cat converter as the problem will arise again and again. Well, it costs around $300 a considerable amount. I'm still confused about deciding between to get it serviced or replace.

Do not clean it's a waste of money I still had to replace in the end. I bought the magna flow hi flow one and it cleared my codes. The real issue is getting the codes cleared once u install it. You have to perform the proper drive cycle per manufacture. Honda will print out the procedure and u should do it to speed up the process.
