Do all aftermarket camshafts out for the rsx-s work for the 06 si? On clubrsx there all crower cams that say fit any k20 head. Stage 2 says 50+ HP with built type s with ecu for stock type-s. What specifically makes a type-s "built"? Is it just valve springs and retainers or what else? What kind of benefits power wise do you think just stage 1 would make? Stage 1 says 35+ hp with ecu for stock type-s. What about other cams that are made for the type-s such as Toda. Are crower the only ones that would work with the si since they say any k20 head?

Base Rsx - K20a3
Rsx S - K20a2 (2002-2004)
Rsx S - k20z1 (2005-2006)
Civic Si - k20z3 (2006)

No the cams from the rsx won't work in the si head. The si head is the same as the tsx head (k24a2) but the intake cam in the si is unique in its own. Only the exhaust cam from the tsx head matches the si head. Whoever told you that all k20's can have the same cams are bs'ing as its not the head that determines the displacement of the motor but the block.

Thanks for clearing that up, good info :thumb:

just because the cams are ground different for stock reasons does not mean that aftermarket type-s cams wont fit in our head. the differences between the heads on the si and the type-s have nothing to do with cams but rather flow. the type-s head has a better low end while the si head is optimized for high rpms. the dimensions of the cams in the engines are all the same, the only difference is how aggressive the cam lobes are. take a type-s cam and si cam and place them next to eacherother. you will see that both are the same length and diameter where the cam journals bolt to the head. so if they are the same dimensions, than why do you think it can't be swapped. sure you may not get the same power you may out of an aftermarket si cam vs. aftermarket type-s cam but that does not mean it can't be done.

no internals were changed...the internals of this engine are equal in strength to that of the S2000...it's been tested.

hondata did the tuning on the ToV car...so i guess we can expect them to have a program for sale sometime if the market calls for it.

as for gains i can't remember the numbers they gained...but go join ToV and do a search...i'm sure it will come up...they have plenty of reviews, videos and pics of their setup and progress.

yea i just read some posts on ToV about it. trapping 103mph, shows some promise but is not too spectacular. That trap speed is somewhere around 14.1-13.8 if im not mistaken. hasnt someone on here hit 14.1 with just i/h/e drag radials and power shifting? i think ill be waiting for a more aggressive cam setup and a k-pro or s200.

good luck finding a better cam than the IPS k2...i'm sure there are better ones..but you'll probably lose daily driving charactersitics and will be at maybe a race setup...IPS K2 are used for racing also...but still good on the street.
them guys are hitting 14.1 on drag radials and @ 100mph or less is optimal weather up north + powershifting.
that cam setup on ToV's car is trapping almost as high as the turbo car from all jap....the lower 1/4 mile ET is simply because of traction issues...and they don't power shift.
simple 1/4 mile times don't tell the whole story....

again i'll bet anything u walk up to ToV or All jap.'s car with a fully bolt on reflashed Si and u get walked badly....u just won't keep up...i see bus lenghts

ToV has estimated that they make about 240whp or more...they haven't posted their dyno numbers yet....however there will be a big update coming in the near future on the site...look out for it.

with a fully bolted on Si and reflash u'll be lucky to see 215whp.

don't expect the aftermarket to make other cams for the Si because the engine has a different code(z3)...it will probably be all the same.

Im not arguing that. your right. the physical dimensions of any 4 cylinder i-vtec cam will be the same. i was mearly stating i will wait to see what happens with more aggressive cam lobes.

i guess i was just expecting a little more from the 1/4.. drive it like ya stole it.. ya know?

yeah i know what u mean about the 1/4...all jap. will be going back with drag radials and at 10 psi sometime in the near future...look out for that

ToV...don't know what they are doing...they've been on the hush for a while...but will be out with an update soon...look out for that.

i'll have my own all jap. thread pretty soon also...look out for that.

about the cams...
skunk 2 to has from stage 1 and up available already...give them a call.
