cam decision help

Ok, so this coming tax season, i will be buying cams. But, do not know which set to go with. I want something good for daily driving and occasional autocross and hopefully track use.

The 3 cams i have broken it down to are:
- Skunk2 Stage 2 Tuner cams
- Brian Crower Stage 2 BC0042-2
- Kelford 179-B
- Also most likely going to use Supertech valves and retainers.

I know there are better cams, but I do not want break bank and i have read these 3 have good reviews.

Any more info or suggestions will be appreciated.

What other mods do you have?
I spoke with 4piston on which cams they would suggest for stock port k24a2 and they said Kelford B's are really good but there may be quality issues. Skunk2 for as much hate as they get do make good products.

I would contact each manufacturer or a tuner that's near you that you trust and get their opinion based on your mods.
do you already have flashpro and a good intake/header/exhaust?

also you will need to get atleast some RDX injectors
Sorry, i should have added my current mods:
- Skunk2 cold air intake
- Go Power header
- Skunk2 70mm exhaust (but will be upgrading to Full Face 76mm soon)
- Flashpro

Parts that are waiting to be installed:
- j35 throttle body
- RRC IM
- RDX 410 injectors
- upgraded fuel rail

Some good selections man
IMO, go w/ Kelford or S2 since they're reputable & reliable
For JDM status, Jun's are good, too
JUN High Lift Camshaft - Type 0 Intake Honda K20A K24A - RHDJapan
JUN High Lift Camshaft - Type 0 Exhaust Honda K20A K24A - RHDJapan

& yes, Supertech are awesome when it comes to springs & retainers
Supertech – HPTautosport
I'd say go Prayoonto. They're basically like IPS K2's. Very nicely priced IMO.
Hmm, have not heard of Prayoonto cams. But i will definitely look into them thank u.

Worst advice ever.

I've never heard that comparison (in fact I haven't seen a dyno of Prayoonto cams on a 2.0 liter motor). Can you link some dyno graphs to back that up?

EDIT: found it
Club RSX Message Board - View Single Post - Stage 2 Cam comparison
Notice the details on that clubrsx dyno graph?
why isnt D.C. in this? and i also agree that Prayoonto cams are a good choice. but i love the power that D.C. 2.2 makes
I have an OG set of Skunk2 Stage 2's. Great cams and I have no tensioner problems.

I've tried the BC Stage 3 (not the stage 2) before and I don't like how all the power is top end.

My friend has the 179B's and he likes them but I have not driven on them.

You mean besides the fact that it was a Prayoonto test of prayoonto cams against IPS cams? Norris and IPS have a deep history and bad blood so I wouldn't be surprised to hear that this was not a "fair" test.

OP made it clear why DC wasn't listed....price.
I think threads like this are silly...pretty much any "stage 2 cam" is going to make around the same hp because most of them are just copies of other stage 2 cams.

If price is the biggest factor then just buy whichever used stage 2 cam pops up first in the classifieds.

I agree I'm tired of these type of threads. Lol
Lol...these threads are inevitable.

But notice how pretty much every cam'd 2.0 stock block (with full bolt ons) makes right around 235-245 on a dyno jet? To make real power you gotta spend big bucks and pay for trade secrets...8)
Worst advice ever.
not really, JUN is up there compare(d) to USDM firms. It's a given that Quality (JDM) > Quantity (USDM); this statement covers the categories of more than just vehicles. Just have an abstract mindset about it :haybunny:

Lol...quite the opposite my friend, I have an analytic mind. Show me independent dyno testing comparing Jun cams to another aftermarket cam. Hell, how about at least show me a dyno with a k20z3 with full bolt ons and Jun cams.

Show me proof that Jun quality is greater than Drag Cartel or SVM or IPS billet cams.

I said this was the worst advice ever because cheaper cams with much more available dyno testing and with at least equivalent quality are available.

I don't assume that just because the shiny package says "Jun" that it will make power.:

The highest hp NA honda motors are not coming out of Japan or Australia. Pull your head out of your a$$ man:facepalm:
