So a couple of months back, I spun a bearing in my K20z3. I have been saving and have enough to buy a new used k20z3 and plan to swap it soon. I am going to be doing the swap with a friend. Earlier today, my friend ask me who is going to do the engine timing and 'tuning'. As of that moment, I hadn’t even considered that. I figured that one can plug in everything and the ECU would automatically. -it seems like that's not the case, right? Can Hondata engine management substitute a tuner when installing a new/used engine?

In other words; Can I use Hondata's base maps to do all the timing and configuration for the new/used K20z3 engine? Or would do I absolutely need someone to do that ECU management and timing for the new/used K20z3 engine?

I have limited auto experience so sorry if I sound ignorant. Thanks for y'alls help.
