Bench testing OEM navigation system

So I just received a OEM system that I just bought from here. I took it to my local audio shop that did an alarm install for me. I ask the owner if he could bench test it for me and so he did. He attached the harness from the navi that has the power and ground cable and matched it to a scorche harness. It was 3 wires. Red, yellow and black.

So he said that the unit doesn't power up, well the screen don't doesn't turn on. It sounds like it gets power and the DVD is turning inside but the screen is not powering on.

Does anybody know if another part of the harness needs to attached to bench test it? He gave me the info to another shop that does audio repair to ask them to see if there's something wrong with the navi or maybe it just needs another harness to be wired also for the screen to be turned on.

I was just thinking about this on the way home today.

Maybe you have to hold the illumination wire with the power wire while grounding.

You said you can hear it turn on, so maybe you'll get lucky. Let me know if it works

congrats with the working navi. i had the same situation as well, except i did the retrofit myself. i thought it was successful but when i took my car an audio car shop just to install my speaker and sub he found a flaw in my electrical wiring and fixed it, made it sound 10x better! i was shocked cause he was able to do it just by looking at the wire and pattern. a little bit of trial and error. he got it fixed in 30minutes.

i had my rear speaker blown the whole time from my stupid wiring skill but i replaced it anyway and voila. perfect as OEM.

if anyone from orange county that wants professional navi retrofit look for beach auto sound in Huntington beach. unfortunately i forgot that one guy's name.

Congrats !! my navi retro took a week for me to figure out all the wiring LOL..but everything has been working for me without issues. This forum helped me tremendously on how to get it to work. Next project is to bypass the factory amp.
