has anyone cut the shift arm halfway down the threads to make the knob sit lower? it would also make the shift distance shorter. any ideas if this would work or mess up the tranny?

that doesnt sound like a good idea. just get a low shift knob and a short shifter.

FOr as much as it would cost to fix this when its done wrong you could buy a short shifter for $250...
