So I know this is a honda forum but I was looking around places from different sources and could not seem to figure out what is wrong with my cousins car. It is a 1999 Nissan Altima, and it has a manual transmission. after about 5-7 minutes of running the car somewhere from where the alternator is (im 90% sure it is the alternator) it starts to smoke. not too heavily like an overheated engine, but you can definitely see it. Does anyone know why an alternator would start smoking, the battery still holds charge ect... thats why im not sure if it needs to be replaced or what.
