I said sorry! Really though, I posted up like 2-3 different threads double and triple checking my wheels would fit my car before I bought and they were under $500 shipped :xyxnervou

It sucks that he's out the money, but he'll prolly lose less than 3-400 on them. Sometimes things like this need to happen to learn a lesson
It's hard to express sarcasm on the intrawebz (ref. my previous post).

LOL

You are right he'll come out ok, and I'll bet that he'll do his research next time!

Insult to injury... nice...

I would agree, but I didn't want to say anything since the sting of being out $2k+ has to be bad enough... oh well.
While I do like the wheels myself (by themselves), I do have to admit that the half inch that sticks out past the fenders looks kind of awkward.

I tried to turn a blind eye to it (and just look at the car from a side profile), as well as justifying the fact that I can resell these without losing money on them. It doesn't hurt too much, as I'm not out $2k+ (I paid much less).

Honest opinion > sarcasm. Thanks for all the insightful help guys. :)

As for learning a lesson, definately. Research will be key the next time I do something like this.

I'm looking at adding negative camber right now, and so far - I'm guessing it's done with a camber kit? Looks like I'll need a front and rear kit - and that's going to set me back another 500~?

Aside from doing the above.. is machining the rims really a viable option? If they're going to cut from the rims, it's not going to stick out so much anymore and rub? This is assuming there is enough meat to cut on the rims. Does anyone know how much this costs usually?

My tires right now are 245-40-18. If I bought a smaller set of tires, would the rubbing go away (considering they barely rub right now)?

Get some 215 or 225s stretched and you should have a chance the tire sidewall will be set more at a lower angle. 245s are way too wide. I have 245s on my 350z. There are a few members on here running lower offsets. I'm one of them +32 on 18x7.5, +30 on 17x7, 17x7 +37 - 07 Si. But my tires are 215s or 225s.

I tried my 18x8 +22 offset wheels on my Si didn't even try driving on it though.

That inner red lip is HOT. Did you paint those yourself?

Zomg 245 tires? WAAaaay too big for your low offset. And tire width. Heck I'm skeptical I can fit 235 tires on my 17x8 et38 wheels, and that's with some negative camber up front.

Two to three things you'll need to do:
1) 225 tires. Yes it'll be stretched, but not like those cheesy pics in the VW forum. BUT, you do need to know that you'll face premature wear on the tires (that VW link kinda sucks btw, in terms of info). Reason being, tires are designed to bend at certain points, calculated by the wheel width. With stretched tires, the tires are bending at a different area in the sidewall, an area not intended or designed.
2) Negative camber. Two sets of camber bolts up front, a pair of camber arms in rear. I'm guessing negative two degrees all around. If you're planning on lowering, you'll probably need to have at least -2.5 at the rear.
3) If you don't want that much negative camber, then you need fender rolling in addition to some negative camber.
