AC Not Working, Please Help

My friends AC is not blowing out any cold air. She has had the freon checked, system flushed and fuses checked to no avail.

If she is sitting in the car with the AC off, paying attention to the idle, and turn the AC on, she does hear/feel the tell tell sign that the compressor is kicking on. The car down idles a bit.

AC on or off, the air temp feels damn near the same.

Can someone please get me on the right track of what is or might be wrong so I can help her avoid spending more money on what isn't fixing the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if a problem like this is car specific but just in case it is a 99 Escort ZX2.

Most cars made in the late 90's until today have sealed systems. The only way to check for a leak would be to run a dye through the system and look for the leak which can be a time consuming process (The dealerships do this, they can explain it better). My sister's 03 toyota just recently stopped blowing cold air, we took it in and it ended up being a fuse. Check fuses and all the hoses before doing a leak test.

maybe freon leaking, and make sure the compressor is kicking on, i kno you said her idle did change when she switched it on but go and listen for it kicking on with fan's too, well depending on make, my old civic a/c stopped working, the compressor wasnt kicking on, i thought it had locked up, as it turns out i just had a huge hole in the condensor,
