Hi everyone!

I have a 2011 Honda Civic and it intermittently won't start. Usually on damp mornings I will try to start the car but when I turn the key in the ignition the power system goes dead. If I come back later or if I knock on the dash, the power will return and the car will start.. I have taken the car to the dealership and they told me it was the alternator so I had it replaced but it hasn't done anything to solve the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas what the cause may be? Any help would be much appreciated!

Car Info..
  • Automatic Transmission, 205k miles
  • Optima yellow top battery 1 year old
  • Aftermarket Pioneer receiver
  • Kicker 300 W amp

Attached are two consecutive Youtube videos I took of it not starting.

Any work done on the car recently, or recently in the area you are smacking? Also, where are you needing to smack it to get it to work?

I'd wonder if either the ignition switch is going bad, or one of the connectors for the ignition switch is going bad. Given how hard it is to get those connectors apart, I'd probably guess the ignition switch itself has gone bad.

On the second video, what were the lights that stayed on after it started?
