So my father has decided to purchase another Si (I bought mine off him) and has been on the hunt for the 9th gen model. I have done some extensive searching and have found 2 perspectives, one that the 2011 car is the same, and one that says the 2011 car is the true 9th gen civic. I assume that the economic downturn will drag out the 8th gen civic out for another year...

Anyone have any ideas?

No word on when the SI version may come out, it could be in 2011 or later or never?

if you look at the article date of the 9th gen civic, it was dated 2009. Chances are Honda is keeping an 8th gen civic for one more year.
