I have a 2009 also with USB. I put an 8gb USB memory stick in rather than an ipod 8gb memory stick $19.95 ipod $199.00. why tempt someone with an ipod.

You can select folders and song right from the radio.

It supports USB memory sticks up to 64gb ( limit 999 files / folder and 65535 [2^16 -1 = 65535 ] mp3 songs total).
Works with any Ipod or Apple music system that is current firmware level ( it is if you use iTunes and update regularly )
It works with Zune, and all Sandisk music players and any other mp3 player with USB that can be seen as a disk in Windows XP or Vista.

How do you put songs on the memory stick? Is it the same quality of the iPod?
the memory stick is just a drive to the computer - drag and dropped them on my computer.
I use Media Monkey rater than iTunes just copy the songs to the drive that is the memory stick. They are the same MP3 files as in the ipod.
Song bought from iTunes may not play if they have DRM attached to them. Nor will any music that has DRM (digital rights management or copy protection).
