if i take a roadtrip into the usa with my car, they dont deny me warranty cuz its a canadian car, the warranty is for northamarica.
if i take a roadtrip into the usa with my car, they dont deny me warranty cuz its a canadian car, the warranty is for northamarica.except that you have no warranty in Canada right?!?
No they aren't buddy. Barely anything different. Bought mine in the states, only thing different is temp guage is in F.Mine had about 25 k's I think. But about 20 of those were from me test driving it around. I bought it right off the lot.
I wonder how that will work. The US Si's are different then the Canadian ones.
Nope i have to bring it back to the states, butttttt, i live only an hour from the dealership so no biggie.except that you have no warranty in Canada right?!?
Odometer is the exact same, changes on the push of a button, duhhh.exactly, so there's no warranty (in Canada) for Canadians who cross the border and buy their cars in the US. For the record the US dealers are forbidden to sell to Canadians (to protect the Canadian dealers) and can get is trouble if they're caught.
and there are differences between the models, TPMS, VSA, Heated Mirrors, odometer in metric... etc... but that's neither here nor there.
They arleady have DRL's. It had everything I needed for Canadian standards!I believe all civics aside from the hybrid are produced in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. So the tranny problem will be for all cars, just that there're less of them sold in canada so less complaints.
Do the US models have daytime running lights though? I think that might be one thing that needs installation if you bring a US car back up.
Ya, I woulda bought from the US too, if I had the resources to go down there and get a dealer to sell me, and of course the time to do it. Don't worry about it tho OP, I'm sure you'll love your car either way![]()
I realize the SPEEDometer changes when you push the button... but the ODOmeter doesn't does it?!? DUHHHOdometer is the exact same, changes on the push of a button, duhhh.
ANd yes I still have warranty, I could have bought a third party one that i could use in Canada but i didnt want to spend the 2000 bucks for it.
was it the american Si's that have tran\engine problems?
I read it was a certain manufacturing plant
while u may have a harder time selling ur US si here, the money u saved it so worth it. if i could do it again, i would buy from US too. they have VSA! i take that over heated mirrors, lol
Was your's brand new? I though US car dealers were not allowed to sell new cars to Canadians. No they aren't buddy. Barely anything different. Bought mine in the states, only thing different is temp guage is in F.
Canadian Si have heated mirrors tho too.
Was your's brand new? I though US car dealers were not allowed to sell new cars to Canadians.
But they are still different. I just made the point because the o/p stated that the dealer told him they were going to get him one from the states, which is BS simply because of the differences.
That would be pretty cool if they could though.
Dealer - "Sir would you like a US or CDN model Civic?"
Me - "US with NAVI and VSA please"
Ya i jsut bought mine from the states. I have VSA but did not want Navi, didn't want to spend another 2000 for that, since it is not very important to me.You're right, they're not allowed to sell cars to Canadians and can get in big trouble (up to and including losing their dealerships) if they're caught.
You're also right about Canadian dealers getting cars from the US, they can't do that either, they (obviously) have to get all of their cars from Honda Canada...
I'd like to be able to get the Navi and VSA too but not if the VSA comes with that stupid TPMS... I still don't understand (other than I higher cost) why we in Canada (who get the crappier weather) don't get the VSA?!? Guess they wanted to save it for the CSX-S.
Maaaan... maybe I shoulda gotten from the states too...Ya i jsut bought mine from the states. I have VSA but did not want Navi, didn't want to spend another 2000 for that, since it is not very important to me.
Some dealerships sell to Canadians and some don't. This one does because they told me they own alot of other dealerships around the states too that Honda would never shut them down, so they just take the risk and sell to Canadians.
mine doesn'tWhen you push the MPH/KPH button the odometer switches too. Check it out, everyones should do that.
