Same symptoms before i replaced my starter, hard start every morning until it wont even make a click sound. If its the alternator it would drain your battery after a day of driving cause it wont charge it. I would say double check on the starter and try other shop for second opinion.

Same here, mine died after 7 yrs and the car sounds brand new with the new starter.

Not that i know of, i think i was around 120k miles at that time so probably just worn out.
