  1. Your R18, how many miles do you have?

    Civic Coupe And Sedan
LOL, thanks, those retros were not cheap. Anyway, I try to keep my rig as clean as possible and deterioration of parts is a concern. B/c my rig LIVES on the road, I fear when my days of driving a lot come to a close, my Civic will "come to a close" as well. As it stands, drive...
  2. 2009 Civic LX Transmission Question

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
No need to replace it, it's a strainer, not a filter. It is a metal screen, so long as you regularly drain/fill the ATF, you WILL be fine. If you want, take the strainer out and rinse it and reinstall. I have close to 280K miles on mine and never touched it.
  3. R18 Spark Plugs Change DIY

    DIY Honda Civic Engine
At 275,000, I installed new plugs and coils. Engine was bucking, so I decided to change both of them. This was June 2019. Purring like a kitten once again. Changing the coils was easier than the plugs. Part number for the coils can be seen on the coil head in the picture (Denso 673-2305)
  4. Your R18, how many miles do you have?

    Still looking good I think.

Washed, Waxed, floor mats shampooed. 277K miles on her.
  6. I hate OfferUP!

    Water Cooler
I had some parts on OfferUp, but got no "bites". I did have offers to low ball me, but I don't give away my stuff. Anyway, I only see the hear about other's bad experiences, i have yet to talk to someone who likes it. In the meantime, I continue to have success with ebay.
  7. 2010 Civic LX Auto Trans - stutter 1st to 2nd

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
A stuttering tranny at that mileage would indicate to me for you to change the ATF. It is a simple drain and fill. Honda recommended that the intervals be every 60,000 miles. If your rig never got its ATF changed, I would drain and fill a few times to make sure most of the old fluid is out. If...
  8. Your R18, how many miles do you have?

    Civic Coupe And Sedan
Just got a temporary steering wheel. I want to install the leather wrap I got it a while ago AND replace my audio buttons (worn). The gray trim around the wheel is getting worn too, pretty sure I'll be painting it. still running like a champ!
  9. Audio/Cruise/Voice buttons on Steering Wheel

    I.C.E., Electrical, Security, & Navigation
So I can get the OEM factory (NAV, I like have, but, I see no difference between these and the non-NAV bottons) for $108. As you said @Luns , the voice command buttons are separate. Anyway, I remember reading somewhere that aftermarket buttons don't sit onto the steering wheel quite the same as...
  10. 265,000km. What maintenance?

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
I'd do a PCV valve replacement. Easy and cheap insurance.
  11. Official "What did you do to the R18 today" thread

    Civic Coupe And Sedan
This is definitely on the "to do" list. Mine is so pitted, at certain angles with the sun hits it (particularly fall/winter), all the pits light up with the sun and blinds me. Very annoying. Did you go with a particular make (safelite, ppg, etc)?
  12. check engine light without code reader yes or no?

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
If the CEL went off, then the fault is most likely gone. No need to buy code reader or going to a garage, Autozone, Advanced auto, Pep boys will read the code for free.
  13. Fuel Stainer Question

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
nope, i've never heard of replacing this part either. If you are losing mpgs, do the obvious (change plugs, air filters, inflate tires to 34 psi, make sure calipers are not sticking). Even though your car isn't throwing codes, maybe the cat is starting to clog up.
  14. Temperature Gauge

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
I don't remember seeing how to fix this other (I've seen similar issues with the speedometer and gas gauge) than to replace that cluster. Ebay usually has them, check there. Thankfully, these are easy to replace. BTW, that's an old looking 2019 Si, LOL. šŸ¤£

    Civic Coupe And Sedan
Wow, your rig is clean! Not usually a fan of tinted windows, but that looks really nice. I'd be interested to know how much heat does it "block out" on a hot and sunny day.
  16. Replace half the AC system, but still have problems

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
Yes, I've gotten MANY parts from RA. I just didn't think they stocked aftermarket blend door parts for our cars.
  17. OEM Honda Glove Box Light for Our 8thcivic! - Cheap Upgrade!

DIY Honda Civic Interior Style Mods
Fished out my box of "mods and add ons" recently and found the glove box light. Someone mentioned you can use a 15A fuse which seems very excessive, wouldn't a 5A be enough? I was thinking of tapping the dome light (then no fuse will be needed so to speak) for power (non-switched to have...
  18. Tesla-Style 12.2" Custom Touchscreen Center Stack (Working Progress)

    I.C.E., Electrical, Security, & Navigation
Oh I'm sure many are interested, especially if you can apply it to other makes. I say this b/c our rigs are getting older and so interest will begin to wane eventually. I always fantasized about taking my cluster out of my 4runner and replacing it with (customizable) screens, but whatever. This...
  19. Replace half the AC system, but still have problems

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
If you don't want to spend good money, I'd try fleabay or a junkyard. I don't believe the blend door are a common problem so chances are you will find a good one.
  20. Official "What did you do to the R18 today" thread

    Civic Coupe And Sedan
Got the dremel out, not sure if I used the correct bits, but who cares. Got most of the rust out. Not pretty. Still looks bubbly, should I keep going? Anyway, slabbed some silicone grease on it and put the door seal back on.
