This kit is great. It completely removed the notchiness and grindingif your tranny is still good. However, it fixed one problem and brought up another problem. Now, my clutch pedal will become a foot massager everytime I shift above 4k RPM. There is also a sand feeling when I clutch in, but let's not worry about that at this moment as I don't see it as a big concern. I am about to contact Hybrid racing regarding to this issue, so I am here to gather up some information. Obviously, the fitting on the CMC is too long and it's hitting the firewall. Engine mount Kit might be a cause as it will increase the front end vibration. I want to know how many of you have this problem. Do you have aftermarket engine mount kit? Any thought on the sand feeling thing?
Yes. Without the problem I mention above, it's a perfect tranny now. Shift is smooth like butter even it's below 50 where it used to kinda notchy sometimes. Now I can shift as fast as I can with confident. Another thing I like about is once at a while when I tried to shift into reverse, it grinded, but now I can shift into reverse and VTEC!!!!!!!
the vibrating pedal... You are feeling the throwout bearing riding on the diaphragm springs on the pressure plate inside the transmission casing. It's not a big deal at all. This is what happens when you get rid of the dampening chamber the stock cmc has.
The solution is to use a clamp on the clutch cable. Hybrid racing includes a clamp with their kit, use it to secure the cable otherwise you will get vibration. Fabricate another clamp for the cable to further get rid of the vibrations. I am just using the HR clamp and a plastic zip tie to hold my cable from vibrating. I didn't install the clamp at first then I thought the rod pin was going to vibrate out and my foot got a massage when I hit vtec. Put a clamp on the cable to hold it still and the vibrations will stop. I connected my clamp to the bottom of the ecu holder because it was in the cable path and there was a nice hole to bolt the clamp to, but I did have to bend the clamp to make it fit. Just make sure the clamp is tight on the clutch cable and secured.
Hybrid racing doesn't manufacture this CMC, they only make the clutch line, so if you think it's the clutch lines fault, exactly what do you expect them to do about it? Others have given you suggestions, i ran my clutch line in such a way as it doesn't even move without being clamped down.
They don't have to support this product yet they very often do. Stop your whining and enjoy shifting your transmission flawlessly.
This might be a dead thread but i also just got my cmc replaced with the EM1 CMC. Since then my clutch pedal has been vibrating. Is it ok to leave it that way or get it fix?
There is a clutch cable clamp that came with the hybrid racing kit. Install the cable clamp or fabricate something else to hold the cable steady without pinching it too much.
Umm, fold a 5x1 inch piece of thicker sheet metal around a rod about the same size as the cable and drill a hole through the tabs. Round all edges so nothing is sharp. Then bolt it up under the ecm. Is what I want to say. There is no way to hold the cable in a solid spot with a zip tie that I can think of, too much tiny play. I do have one installed near the tranny so the cable doesn't rub.
The clamp has to hold the cable tightly but not too tight plus the clamp has to be secured to a solid spot.
I had the clutch pedal vibration as well also after I installed the hybrid cmc kit. I had problems trying to install the supplied clamp for the cable so i left it off and during the first test drive I felt the vibrations in the clutch pedal every time I put my foot on it. After that i just placed plastic tubing(the stuff use to wrap wires and harnesses) around the clutch line and and used to zip ties to secure it to the driver side engine mount. During the second drive I didn't feel the vibrations anymore. You just got to find a way to secure the clutch line down and keep it from moving
