Clutch engagement point moving during driving

Hey Guys, I've got a problem with my clutch and would really appreciate some help. I tried the 2nd gear grind fix where you adjust the engagement point of the clutch pedal. Long story short, I adjusted the clutch to where it was way to high and even slipped a few times. I put it back in the middle and now am having another problem. When I start the car in the morning, The engagement is just right. After driving for about 15 min, it gets pretty high, and by 30 min, its just about ready to start slipping. During all this adjusting, I was an idiot and used vice grips on the CMC rod. The rod is somewhat scarred up now. I heard that this can cause leaks by tearing up the seals and didn't know if it could be causing my problem, or if my CMC is going, or I need to bleed the clutch fluid or replace it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You need to back the lock nut on the back of your clutch pedal out a bit more, in essence, lower the engagement point a bit more. There needs to be a little free play on the pedal itself.

What your clutch should feel like is you can push it in very easily with your pinky for the first 2 or 3 mm and then it should start getting more firm for about another cm and then it should get to the normal amount of stiffness as you continue pressing the pedal.

What you are experiencing is called "clutch pump up" your clutch fluid heating up as your driving and thus expanding which means you are pretty much riding your clutch. There is a little valve that lets your clutch fluid flow back into the reservoir as it expands but you can block that valve by raising your engagement too high and not letting the clutch have its free play.

To make sure it is indeed "clutch pump up", when your car completely cools down, the clutch should feel back to normal.

Thank you so much, that was the kind of answer I needed. It is indeed pump up since the clutch feels normal in the morning before the car is warmed up and get progressively worse with more driving. I lowered the engagement even more today, so that I can move it slightly with my pinky. I'll be doing some driving tonight and I will be able to see if this fixed the problem. I never ride the clutch though, I leave my foot off the clutch unless changing gears. Thanks for the info, I'll edit this post later with the results.

Edit: I drove some today and the feel didn't change as far as I could tell. I was still able to press it in a few mm with my pinky right before I shut the car off.
