From another study I have seen on an integra forum, they compared a lot of different oil filters, k&n, Mobil 1, Bosch, and oem were shown to be the top competitors. The general consensus of the article was to stick with oem or Bosch to save some money and get great performance

Just installed a k&n Sri on my civic today (it came with the car) and I have a Cobb accessport with those two installed the car does have a better feel and the intake adds a little extra noise which most should like

cheaper filters?

I found an air cleaner filter (under the hood, not in the glovebox) on partsgeek that's listed new for $11.56. That's a lot cheaper than the K&N filter (~$50!) I'm not sure if it's any good though.

Actually, I just found genuine honda OEM filters for $20. Part number is 17220-RNA-A00. Are the K&N filters really much better than the Honda ones? I'm not sure they're worth 2x the price, unless they really help mileage.

If they do help mileage, is it because they allow more air through? If so, then maybe they're not so good at keep dust and other crap out of the engine.

K&N is better because it does not need to be replace every 6 months

I just put in the K&N air filter in my '11 Si sedan last week. I started with a full tank gas of gas and have noticed that my fuel economy is way down. I'm at a quarter of a tank with only 165 miles on the ODO. Usually I'm at 200-220 at that point.

I did a lot of research on this forum that with this air filter the general consensus is that fuel economy improves slightly. My question is do the K&N air filters have a "break in" period where fuel economy dips at first, but improves gradually?

I dont believe there should be a "break in" period. Does anyone else have any experience with this? I am also thinking of getting a K&N drop in filter, but this has me thinking otherwise.

I have a typhoon on my FA5 but I want a cover for the filter during the winter months. Looking for a good value since losing my job
