I tried to do this today, and am having some issues. If anyone has done this recently and can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Most of the links to instructions are gone, so it makes it hard to piece together what you need to do this.

My car is a 2008 Si sedan with the original 6.62A DVD.

I found the original 2006 instructions here: guicide's Nav Hacks

There are some changes to which files I need (applicable from versions 6.55 on), details can be found courtesy of P4rD0nM3 on page 3 of this thread here: https://www.8thcivic.com/forums/i-c-e...tml#post458209

I was able to follow all of guicide's instructions (until the end), and found an active link to bysin.zip here: http://www.stonewall-thomas.com/junk/bysin.zip

The problem I'm having is that I can't get bysin to run in the cmd prompt. I'm getting the error "bysin is not recognized as an internal or external command"

Also, I've tried multiple programs to extract the 08AVN2.bin file, but none of them seem to work.

Help please!

I found the dumpnavi program at .-~*'¨¯¨'*·~-.¸- PHILIPEDGE.COM -,.-~*'¨¯¨'*·~-.

Now it seems like at least it takes the command, but it crashes every time. I get the message "dumpnavi.exe" has stopped working.

I'm wondering if that version of the program can't take the extract command.

I don't think it's really that complicated, but we need an extraction (bysin, dumpnavi) program that works.

https://wiki.hive13.org/view/Honda_Navigation_Hacking

this seems like a relevant link to put here. All of his work is spot on. I'm unable to get the new version of bysin to compile (it has the updated code that allows for RE-packaging the compressed binaries.) It's apparently required for the DVD-R Hack that allows you to use a backup dvd. I've been trying unsuccessfully at this for a few months on and off. My stock nav DVD has read errors all the time and so I've made a backup in an attempt to fix it (without paying 100$ for a new DVD), but until I can recompile this .dll into the .bin I'm out of luck it would seem. I finished editing the hex and everything...

Anyway does anyone else have a good direction to point me to? A compiled binary perhaps? or something of the sort?

Search for the guy who did this with a CRZ navi. It's in the CRZ forum DIY. I used his instructions and after many attempts was successful at changing the splash screen.
