Stock GPS..

Hello,

I am looking at installing a Stock GPS unit into my SI - from a non SI car.

Would anyone know if all of the stock GPS are “premium audio systems,” to where it would still operate my stock amp?

Thanks

No, the coupe EX & EX-L are the only non SI that have a premium navigation system factory installed.

It's quit a bit of work to install OEM navi in a non navi car.

Thanks, good to know.

How much work am I looking at other than putting in a different dash/DIN kit?

Are the harnesses all the same, and “plug and play?”

I have a 2007 NAV, but no "Premium Audio System", so there are non-PAS NAVs out there, just look. I'm not sure if they are plug and play, but likely not. Having that said, I imagine that it would be easier to install than a premium NAV.

Hello. Non-dash kits usually come with just wires sticking out the back and you have to connect them to your car stereo wiring.

What you do is you buy an wire adapter from ebay that fits your car stereo wiring, then just connect the wires on the dash kit to the adapter.

Its not too difficult, but you need to figure out what color wire goes where by getting the info from somewhere - the shop manual or likely this forum has the answers. Also the wire adapter sometimes tells you what color wire is what on its bag, making it easy.

The OEM nav unit is not that great and usually more expensive. I had one - $2000 is what Honda charged me for it. It broke after a few years. I bought a chinese one off ebay for like $150 - it was vastly superior and you could update maps for free. Someone stole it. Now I am installing a 9" tablet instead for my stereo and navigation (you can see how to do so on youtube) and maybe one day it will look as nice as a tesla interior.
