DIY: $3.57 Hood Spacers

Went to Home Depot and picked up:

4 Nylon Spacers, 3/8" H x 1" OD x 0.375" ID
4 hex bolts, 6mm x 30mm
4 washers

Spent $3.57

Old bolts:

Used a 10mm wrench, and a flathead screwdriver.....just pried a little in the right spot...

This is what I got....

Finished Product:

yeah i agree.. but in a way it does serve a purpose.. it helps circulate the air out of the engine bay which would help things keep it a little cooler..

i dunno if your plastic/rubber hood spacer is GOING TO HOLD ON HIGH TEMPERATURE

watch out dude, you know the temp in the engine bay can go pretty high and make sure that thing DOESN'T MELT !!!!!

good way to save money i guess looks decent

+1. The spaced out hood is probably doing very very little for your temps, and aside from some testing with/without the spacers I'm not sure how you could conclude it's worthwhile.

Plus, it looks downright broken...

wouldnt this only help(extremely little if at all) when the car is stopped due to the air pressure when you are moving being greater on the outside of the car than on the inside. therefore the air is pretty much still trapped in the engine bay

i just did this on my car.. went to lowe's. i stopped and got out and felt the heat pouring out. i think they will help.. i also dont think they will heat up enough to mess w/ the plastic spacer. i paid less than 5 bucks for these lol
