Looking at Purchasing this '08 Civic Sedan LX (5spd, 165k miles)

Hi, not sure if I'm posting this in the right place...

Anyway I need a beater/daily for the winter and I found this on my local craigslist.

current owner only put around 9k miles on it.

I know 165k is high for this year but mileage doesnt bother and it shouldnt right, especially on a Honda Civic? And this one never had a problem with head gasket/engine block that the '06-'08s suffer from so I assume its fine.

and I could get this for $3k flat. i gave it a solid look and drive. Everything seemed fine.

Heat/AC and radio work. No problems mechanically. Paint wise it isnt in the best condition with a few scratches and lil dents here and there but it doesn't bother me at all.

Would this be a decent pick up for that price?

I think that's a great deal,
I just picked up an 08 LX w/ 151k for $4k (for my son). It had the engine rebuilt about 20k miles ago due to a spun main rod bearing. The Honda dealership replaced it under an extended warranty.

Had to replace rear shocks right away (driver rear leaking) and will need to replace struts sometime within the next 6months.

Replaced steelies with rims and fresh rubber and tinted the windows

Other than that is a great first car and killer gas mileage (I drive '12 Tundra).

Mine was about same condition as yours and it's an automatic

If you have a trusted mechanic close -- run it by there, worth an hour for a second opinion. Or even if you don't want to ask if you can do it anyway, it'll give you a good idea of how confident they are in the car lol. if they say no, walk away.
