Buying 09 civic si from dealer --ideas?

Hi guys im new to this forum but thinking about buying an 09 civic si from a dealer in the next couple days or week max.

I found one with 30k miles 4 door si for 12,995 locally..

I kbb'ed it and it comes to like 17k book value so i immediately thought must be salvage so i called them up and was told that it is a clean title car so i was like...oh nice .. Does this sound like to good to be true or should i go for it?

And also what should i look for in the test drive. I heard alot of friends 07 si's are grinding and pop out. Hopefully 09 is fixed.

I asked them if they had the carfax and he said no that i could buy it online, and that kind of rang a bell why would a dealer not have a carfax....idk

My plan for the test drive is to drive it pretty hard to see if there is any issues with tranny and such. Any tips?

na hella suspicious first thing the dealership did was show me the history of the carfax.

guarantee there is a problem with it because it sounds effy and too good to be true lol
clean title + not willing to show a carfax at a dealership? I bet it had a pretty bad accident that ruined something internal and it doesn't show up but they know it:O

good luck tho

Be careful man, yeah it's strange they can't show you the carfax or even autocheck. Every dealer pretty much gives them out for free. I can't believe it's priced so low? Is it a Honda dealership? Or your local used car lot?

Give it a good once over before the test drive too, check the back seats how clean are they? Open engine back and truck and it should be clean. Even check the wheels for brake dust. The car should be ready to go and not need anything if it's for sale at a car dealership.

09 you might still have some warranty left? ask them about that. Don't sign anything unless all looks/checks out. The price is really low though??

Every legit dealer has a carfax. Something is fishy.

Even more fishy when they told you can buy it online.

Carfax isn't hardly worth the time you spend getting the report. If a problem hasn't been reported to carfax, it won't show up on the report.

However, i would advise you to stay away from that deal. My 09 FA5 was 17,995 with 89k miles and it had been in a front end collision that wasn't reported to carfax. The only way to really get the true history report of a vehicle is through service records and VIN inquiries. The only way of doing that it if the previous owner had all service and repairs done at a honda dealer, you would have to find that dealer and request a service history. I'm not sure about other Honda dealers but at the one where i work, our service records are dealership specific and we can't see the service history of a car unless it was serviced at our dealership.

Isn't it mandatory for the dealer to provide a warranty?

sorry for late replys guys i went to see the car and while i clearly asked the guys is it a clean title like 9 times they told me yes yes clean title. I go there every looks ok i was ready to buy until i asked for the title and i see it says rebuilt. Thats freaking ridicolous is that not like illegal a dealer can straight lie to my face? I then low balled the **** out of them and walked out. I also drove 2 hours to the dealer....bull****..

buy certified .. you get a good warranty and a pretty good bet its never had more than some very small superficial damage if any at all .. i bought my 09 with 52k and navi with 120k powertrain and 100k bumper to bumper warranty for 17.2 out the door .. haggle a little and you will get a good deal.. the dealer i bought mine from was asking 18.9 with out the extended warranty .. i talked them down to 16.8 then finagled them to throw in the warranty for 395 extra ( they were asking 1200 for the warranty if that gives you an idea of how much they rape you on those to btw )

I personally wouldn't touch that unless your hurting for money. Even then, its not the damage you see, its what's underneath that damage you see that can burn you.

I can't really see the rest of the car but my bet would be it wasn't taken care of very well.
