Cusco Type II Underbraces

We have gotten a lot of feedback on the Cusco Type II Lower Arm underbrace for the 06+ Civics so we're offering a pre-order on the for all 8thcivic members.

Price is $163.00 shipped in the USA and there is an estimated 8 week waiting period as the bars are coming in DIRECTLY from Japan.

Payment may be made via paypal to z1sales@z1auto.com or just give us a call!

You need to modify the exhaust hanger off the downpipe to clear the front of the bar as this bar is originally intended for the 2006 FD1 Japanese Civic.

We simply took the rubber hanger off and bent the lower hanger-mount to become the upper hanger-mount. Then, we spun the rubber hanger up to hook up to the bent mount. The hanger is hollow so it's not too hard to bend though a little heat may help you. It may not be pretty, but it works...

We currently have the only bar in the USA. As you can see, the Cusco piece is a different design than the Tanabe. The Tanabe piece, while well made, hangs very low...presumably to clear the cat shield with room to spare to account for exhaust movement. The downside to hanging so low is that it can scrape over speedbumps and driveways and it may be prone to flex. The Cusco design clears the cat shield and mounts much closer to the chassis to limit flex and maintain body rigidity during the hardest cornering.

As with all Cusco lower arm bars, this Type II lower arm bar is made from tubular high-tension lightweight aluminum and finished in an anti-corrosion paint in the traditional Cusco blue.

Email or PM me with any questions or concerns!

Do I need to modify the exhaust hanger for "Non si" as well?
Thanks

I am not sure - we've only installed the piece on an 06 SI. Jack your car up and check to see if there is an exhaust hanger coming off the downpipe or not. The bar is 100% bolt in on the JDM 06+ civic...

This reminded me that I have this... Gotta put it on now that the weather is a little nicer. This bar and the other cheaper imitations do not compare in my opinion... Cusco feels sturdy the other ones barely look straight let alone sturdy. I have held both ...

Still more in stock - don't be fooled by a few of the other underbraces available...they are cheaper for a reason :)

The Cusco pieces are internally double ribbed for strength and made from high quality aircraft grade aluminum. As far as I know, the Megan products are hollow and made from a softer, cheaper grade of aluminum. The Cusco piece also mounts nearly flat to the chassis/subframe instead of hanging low like the Megan/Tanabe braces (which is counteractive to flex resistance).

I wouldn't doubt the Megan comment. I took my front tie bar and could bend it around my knee with very little pressure.

BTW, does this replace the front tie bar or work in conjunction?

It will work with the Megan 2-point front lower tie - basically it connects the front subframe to the chassis like the Megan 4-point bar does...only the Cusco unit is made with better materials and a far superior design.
