Do people really pay 3k on wheels O_O ??
So,i got some cheap ass(but nice looking) 500$ worth wheels ...
i been looking for some "good" wheels .. and what i liked were some advans ... the price on these is ... 3000$ !!! they are NICE and i know that they are light .. but do a civic (r18) deserve such wheels ? they mostly look like they should be installed on "fast" cars only .. such as the evo or imprezza ... 350z .. what do you guys think ? |

it doesnt matter what kind of civic it is, it deserves whatever the owner feels like throwing on, Example Smoot, and Jeshua both drive non-Si civics, and they both have sickk as rims(sick ass cars in general), its not always about fast cars. sometimes just looks do it for some. thats how i see it.I drive an Si, personally i am more about having a clean car and cruising. haha, thats my opinion.
than when i see some breezy's i roll down my window and use my famous lines, "ayo girl, ayo girl Yiiiiii" white girls love that stuff.Last edited by ChinoiSI; 05-29-2008 at 03:25 AM. |

take a look at what volk wheels go through to be processed. It's an amazing process to see what wheels go through to be made.

I avoid those wheels.
Curb them once and you'll cry. Get them stolen and you'll cry even more. Not only that, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why someone would put 3k wheels on an R18 (even an SI). Is it just to impress people? People are wow'd all the time by my $500 konigs lol. |

It really depends on your taste. You can easily go with less expensive wheels and get good quality, just like some expenive wheels are junk. Rays, being Volk, Gram Lighs, etc etc are outstanding, but so are others. Use wheel locks, put a stolen sticker on the inside of the drum just in case, keep it in a safer area. Some places it doesnt make sense to get anything expensive because crime is so bad. And stay away from curbs! Thats why I never let me girl drive my car unless absolutely neccisary! we have replaced 5 tires on her car so far because she ate the sidewalls away! She is a bad driver...

No, I get it. People want to buy nice wheels for their cars. It just doesn't seem like a good idea, to me, to buy wheels that look the same as ones 1/4 their cost just because these ones are lighter, stronger, etc when your car really won't benefit from that.

i have a better question why would anyone really want to spend 3000 bucks on old early 90's late 80's looking wheels PERIOD (advan) they were just a fad IMO. for a while EVERY single "magizine" ride was rocking them. Personally i think they look like crap. I have a very expensive set of wheels on my "track car" not on a daily driven car that wouldn't benifit from them. I for one don't understand why ppl put such expensive rims on a vehicle that runs the risk of things like curb damage stolen ECT...... I understand expensive wheels that are lightwieght for racing and track purposes other than that they are like every other exterior mod FOR LOOKS

It's like camera stuff. I *could* get the 24-70mm f2.8 from Tamron for about $500, but I went with the 24-70mm f2.8L from Canon that costs $1100 because of the little things that make it better than the Tamron. Even considering my amateur skills. Or, buying a 599GTB Fiorano instead of a Corvette ZR1. Similar, if not better, track performance for the ZR1. But it's not a Ferrari. The 'Vette would be a better buy...but if you *afford* it...would you pick one over the other? There's just some things, irregardless of what it is, that you want because it's expensive and "that much better", even if those qualities are mostly perceived and never really touched upon in "normal use". So, no, you don't get "it". ![]()

for the R18 that i see with 3k wheels i cant help but to think why and the point. to each his own. some of those guys will tell you that they have the r18 for gas mileage, but to buy 3k wheels is like a mind f*ck. cause in those cases to buy a stock si and drive is more economical. for the Si its understandable to spend money on it cause youve crossed that threshold of it being justifiable cause you bought the car offered for that buyer market and purpose. IMO people that are product of lazy parents will spend 3k on wheels for a DX... cause i know if i spent that much even on a Si i would have people i would have to justify this with so i dont look like a idiot. prob followed by someone like mom or dad saying "if you want a farrari why dont you save that 3k or use it to make more money instead of buying something that your everyday life is going to ruin and set you back 3k"... something like that. most will fall under this category. if not that way then they would have to justify this with them selves... its called smart. so in the end the R18 has nothing to do with it. i wanted navi, wheels, k20z3, lsd, 6speed, 4 wheel disc brakes, bolstered seats, red stitch interior, red gauges, wing, etc... i bought an Si and financed half of it. i even wonder sometimes why i need all that, but i enjoy it and not a corolla or a R18. furthermore it just so happens honda offers such a thing from the factory! what a deal... hondas been hooking me up since 2000 this way! good thread! |

I think people who pay $3000+ on wheels are tools...It is literally impossible to keep them in perfect condition. They are pretty much on the ground for god sake! A week after ownership your going to start noticing small flaws like scratches, chips and as people have stated, if you curb one there goes your mad tyte jdm rim
