Wheel fitment issues
I have read through the threads stickied above, but seem to still be lost as to whether or not the wheels I am looking at will work without fitment issues.
I want to eventually lower the car on coilovers, so I know that is an important factor as well, but I have read that I need to ensure proper clearance from the suspension components as well. I am looking to run a set of 18X8 wheels. Should I get them in a +37 or +45 offset for proper clearance without rubbing while lowered? Planning to use 225/40 series tires. Any help would be appreciated. |

If you can, go for 48mm offset with 18X8" wheels. 45mm may be okay though, but 48mm will work better.
Tucking them in just a few more milimeters might make all the difference. I have 18X8" 48mm offset wheels on my sedan with 225/40s. I did a lot of measuring inside the wheelwells and made drawings (like a blueprint) of various wheels with different widths and offsets to determine what would fit best. If you can only get the wheels you want in 45mm it might be better to use a 215/40-18 tire for a little more clearance. |
