VOLK TE 37 18" fitment on SI

Hey guys!

I have been asked about this wheel allot lately, and there has been a bit of a buzz on the fitment on the 18" setup. Our techs noticed, and confirmed that the gasline is slighly moved from the coup model to the sedan, adding on top of that the open-air cusioning then the thick plastic shell surrounding it from impact damage. This causes some wheels, including the VOLK models, to not fit properly and possibly cause rubbing issues. People have done mods to their vehicle in order to make this work (as you can do with about anything if determined enough), but I wanted to make everyone aware of the issue there!

FYI, it is the passenger rear well which has the protrusion

Let me know if you have questions!

They are only selling 17" inch Volk's, if you want to get the 18"'s you have to go through Spencer or someone on the phone...

The ones listed by Volk for the vehicle are the specs:

18X7.5 5-114 ET48

It was initially listed for both the coup and sedan model, but when we got complaints about the rubbing issues on the sedans, we looked into it. The problem is the gas line being moved. This is primarily for the TE37 model. Mackin knows about this as well...no real solution as of yet. Good point above tho, as not everyone experienced this rubbing...its kindof hit or miss for whatever reason.

Why would the volks rub, but the mugen GP's don't? They are the same size and same offset.

i believe its mostly for the coupe's vs. the sedan because of the different body style. Although i'm not positive, i think that my be a factor into this as well. Not too sure though...

A lot of things come into factor. I'd run a higher offset though.. but I'm sure theres nothing else close like 18x8+35?

I'm confused. How do you know if yours will rub or not? Just have to wait till you get them and install? I have the 18x7.5 40mm TE37s on order.

I believe coupe can accomodate more agressive offset (low offsets like +35 to +38)

On the other side, higher offsets tend to make your wheel go in resulting into hitting you inner suspension. On the back of the sedan, there is a plastic cover that protects the gas line. (Thats where it tend to hit or rub).
I have an 18 x 8.5 with +47 offset (you can imagine how wide it is and have a high offset which makes it go in more, I don't have any issues with inner suspension, no modification, no rolling of fenders whatsoever.

I just bought LE37T 18x7.5 ET43. I'm gonna run it on stock suspension and I have sedan. Do I need a spacer or anything to avoid rubbing?

Thanks dude... That's such a relieving news... Ehm, that's also no rubbing issue, right? How many inch drop I can get without using any spacer or aftermarket camber arm?

Do you know what spring will give comfort as well as handling? I don't want anything too bouncy.

you should use a rear camber arm anyway. Spring's aren't for handling, they are for looks. Read through the suspension forum for more info.

You can lower 2" with some negative camber with no rubbing. It isn't really classified as an aggressive offset, being 2mm from stock.
