Caliper painting questions

Searched for this, but all the results I kept getting were just of people showing what they did, so I figured I'd make a thread.

Two questions..

One, is there any other paint other than G2 that works well? I don't want it to be fading and having to re-apply after 4 months. I live in a wintery area (MN) so I need something durable. I want to buy it in a store (can only find the G2 stuff online). Any ideas? I was thinking possibly a high-temp engine paint, but I donno if that'll last on a caliper.

Secondly, which parts do you paint and which do you mask off? I was reading another thread where a guy just sprayed the entire thing and some people seemed horrified about that. So which parts don't you paint?

Thanks

I painted my valve cover with high temp spray paint, I have had no problems with it fading, or being affected by the heat.

Those pics are after 2 years? Impressive Thank you, that just made me re-think red as a choice too. Black looks nice on those wheels, which are basically the same as mine.

I used duplicolor paint form the local auto shop. I just did it not too long ago so I hope it holds up.

I just taped up the the rubber parts and painted everything with the brush. If you have a steady had you should have no probs. Little areas that get "extra" paint where it should not dont really show up once you have the wheel on.

i used the dupli-color but i don't think i put enough coats because its peeling and chipping off. I painted them last summer and throughout the winter it started peeling

add 2 zeros behind the five, then double it.

Well that isn't good.. I'm just gonna get the G2 I think. Might as well do it right the first time, I'm seeing too many reviews stating that the duplicolor fades

i think somewhere along the line i'm gonna try rustoleum paint. most likely the type you brush on. rusto's supposed to be a very heavy duty paint made to withstand the elements. acouple coats should really do the trick.
