Need your guys help on tire and rim fittment.

I called tiredirect and talked to a guy named dalton. He told me my 215/45 R17 Kumho's would fit on my rim choice of 17x8. I thought the 215's wouldn't go on a 8 inch rim. Has anyone had experience in this?

you could also use 225/45R17

You probably can use the 215's but the 225's are usually priced about the same and the overall diameter is still easily within spec to not affect the speedo/odo. Besides you'll have that much more contact patch!

215/45-17 will mount on a 7" to 8" rim.

However putting it on an 8" rim has the potential to stretch the sidewall in a bit.

i have an 8" wide rim on 215s - they do look stretched

i'd rather get 9" on 225s

It'll fit, but definitely stretched. I'm running 225/45/17 on my 17x7.5 Kosei. The sidewall on mine seems a little "foldy", so on 8" wheel, it should look better with 225.

If you like the stretch look, go for it, but ideally you should be running 225.

depends on the look ur going for....215's on an 8" wide rim will work but will def looked stretched...im runnin 225's on an 8.5" wide rim and they still look stretched but i like it like that...i think 225's would be best for an 8" wide rims tho....when i was buyin my rims even tirerack recommended 215's on my 8.5" rims...weird

Really what size tire? Was this on the website or a sales associate on the phone?

a 215/45-17 will only mount 7-8 but a 215/40-18 will mount 7-8.5

As a general rule you can check the tires "Measured Rim" spec. anything larger will almost always look stretched.
